Day 1 of Kingfisher Premium Chennai International Fashion Week opens to a scintillating start
Designers Vivek Karunakaran and Ramesh Dembla presented some stunning styles on the ramp
The lights were positioned perfectly, the ramp impeccable, the front rows adorned by the who’s who of the town, as the 4 day long extravaganza of the Kingfisher Premium Chennai International Fashion Week (Kingfisher Premium CIFW) kick started on 26th July 2012 at Hotel Hyatt Regency.
It was an outstanding sight as the gorgeous models took over the ramp showcasing myriad creations by ace designers Vivek Karunakaran and Ramesh Demla. The collections ranged from subtle fabric treatments to strong tactile detailing and embellished fabrics with feminine pleats and tender ruffles.
The opening show by Vivek Karunakaran saw some exceptional designs and set the mood right for the evening. His fall winter collection titled, “Wanderlust” was an ensemble of hand crafted designs with a combination of separates coming together creating an extremely edgy and unique look. Color blocking was used beautifully in pieces which were predominantly aborigine, candy pink, vermillion, cerulean blue and black, all seamlessly blending together keeping up with the theme. Showstopper for the show was Parvathy Omnakuttan, Ex-Miss India World
The second designer Ramesh Dembla showcased his collection called “Dawn to Dusk” which ranged from elegant and ethereal black gowns with a hint of seduction to bright saris in yellow, orange and red. The collection was a mystical journey through the night and was an attempt to recreate the splendor in the skies through a fine ensemble of Indian and Western haute couture. Showstopper for the show was famous model Ganesh Venkatranam and Sonia Gill
