The Residency formally announced the launch of its ‘Madurai Food Festival’ at a press gathering held at Residency Hotel. Charles Fabian, GM along with Corporate Chef Shanmugam welcomed and addressed the media. This was followed by a demo for the media. The Madurai Food Fest started yesterday the 17th August and will on till Aug 26th at the Spice Jar restaurant, The Residency, GN Road, T Nagar, Chennai.
The fest is aimed at celebrating Madurai Cuisine which is popular all over the country. Madurai cuisine is one of the better known cuisines and more popular one in the southern region. Though the cuisine is more popular and known for its vegetarian offerings it is also equally popular for its non-vegetarian dishes. Malli idly, Filter Coffee, Paruthi, Jigarthanda, Kotthu Parotta, Chettinadu Biriyani, Kozhi Varuval are some of the dishes that are unique to Madurai.
The fest at The Residency’s Spice Jar will consist some of the dishes that form a very intricate part of Madurai like Keerai, Nandu, Kozhi Chaaru for starters Iyremeen kozhambu, Nethili Meen Kozhambu, Eeral Roast, Naatu Kozhi Varuval to sumptuous poriyals and kootus and many more.
Chef Sonai and Chef Nagaraj experts in Madurai cuisine will be supervising this fest. It will be only dinner on weekdays and lunch & dinner on weekends for the length of the fest. The fare is priced at Rs. 500/- for one and is on at Spice Jar restaurant till the 26th of Aug.
Chef Sonai and Chef Nagaraj prepared very tasty Chicken roast the typical side dish for Parotta or Chappathi which is commonly taken in Madurai.
