On Earth day the 22nd April , “Do tree plantation as much as possible”, request from Chiyaan, now Youth Envoy of UN Habitat Vikram. He started dong justification of being chosen as the youth envoy for UN Habitat. He shared his works and planning towards the betterment of the society and the environment with the press. Vikram is already involved in social activities through Vikram Foundation, Kasi Eye care etc and in this conference he announced that he will be doing much more in the coming days in association with UN Habitat and of course with the support of his close friends Parthipan, Sooriya Narayanan and Aruna.
He laid foundation of two new social projects called 'Karka Kasadara' and 'Pachchai Puratchi'. He explained that Karka Kasadara will aim at identifying school and college drop outs and help them better their personalities and discover a livelihood to support themselves. Pachchai Puratchi like the name suggests will go about planting as many trees as possible and their target for this year is to plant one lakh trees in and around Chennai. The actor stressed that trees will be planted in colleges, schools and jails where constant care will be given to the plants. To mark the start of this, the team planted over 100 trees inside the YMCA campus situated on ECR today. Vikram said that though these trees might take a long time to grow but it will certainly benefit our future generations. Biju, Nirmala IAS, Snehalatha, Anand Krishnan, Sooriyanarayanan (Vikram Fans association head) and Parthiban participated in this good cause with Vikram.
Vikram also spoke about the honor of being selected as the youth envoy by the UN Habitat. He will be the Youth Envoy of UN Habitat for life time. He said that this post has given him a chance to travel to a lot of countries and plenty of influence to help the people who are suffering there. The actor shared his experience of visiting diamond mines and was shocked to know that many losing their lives. Now he felt it was wrong to even wear diamonds anymore. He hoped that he will be able to reach out to such people in future and provide them all possible helps. Vikram is also planning to meet his colleagues and will seek their support too.
Let us give hands to Vikram its ultimately equal to leave safety and livable earth to our future generation.
