Director ArunVaidyanathan honored with ‘Iyakkunar Ilaval’ title by Newjersey Tamilsangam.
Writer,director Arun Vaidyanathan whose first film ‘Achchamundu!!Achchamundu!’ won numerous awards and selections in festivals across the globe was recently honored with a title ‘Iyakkunar Ilaval’ by New Jersey Tamil Sangam.Vaidyanathan’s feature film was entirely shot in New Jersey where Prasanna,Sneha and Emmy award winner John Shea comprised the cast of the film.The film was an official selection in Shanghai International film festival,Cairo,Indian Panoramaand won best feature at Chennai International film festival.NJTS president Devi Nagappan said, “It’s a proud moment for the Tamil community of New Jersians and we are very happy to notice that one of our residents made and released an entertaining Tamil mainstream film with a social message Arun’s passion and his efforts are inspiration to the Tamil community here”.
Director Arun Vaidyanathan said “Its always a good feeling to get an award from a place which is close to your heart. I have been living in New Jersey for the past decade. Although I won awards in my hometown Sirkali,Chennai and screened my film in various countries, New Jersey is like my second home.I am thankful to all my producers and my family for supporting an effort like this.I will be announcing my next project soon and have finished couple of exciting scripts”.
The producers of Achchamundu, Mr.Ananth Govindan and Mr.Ramzan Lakhani were also present during the occasion. Popular Tamil singer Krish and Anitha Krishna entertained the audience with lot of dancing numbers from Tamil films.Proceeds from the entire function were given to‘Gift a future’ organization,which helps students to get education, and more details about the same can be found in giftafuture.org.
