92.7 BIG FM, Chennai’s No. 1 Melody station, kick-started its hunt for “BIG Melody Maharaja & Maharani” on Thursday, December 22, 2011. Actor Vikram launched the talent search during his BBC Star Talk show hosted by 92.7 BIG FM.
The “BIG Melody Maharaja & Maharani” is a special initiative by Chennai’s much-loved melody station to provide a platform for the people of Chennai to exhibit their singing skills and recognize their talent.
As part of the hunt, 92.7 BIG FM will host karaoke contests as various malls and high footfall points across the city where the station’s Radio Jockeys will engage and encourage participants.
The best male and female singer will be crowned the “BIG Melody Maharaja & Maharani” by prominent singers at a gala final round in the New Year.
Vikram lauded BIG FM’s initiative in providing a canvas for the people of Chennai to display their singing abilities during his interaction with students of different city colleges and BIG FM listeners for a weekly celebrity chat-show, BBC Star Talk, produced by the BBC World Service India FM team for 92.7 BIG FM in Tamil Nadu.
The BBC’s presenter Jayakumar Sudandhirapandiyan moderated the show and engaged the students in a conversation with Vikram about making a career out of
acting, filmmaking and singing.
Vikram's new movie “Rajapaatai” is scheduled to be released tomorrow. The actor was recently appointed as the Youth Envoy for the United Nations Human Settlements Programme.
The show culminated with Vikram singing a song along with the students thus ushering in the X- mas and the New Year celebrations in style.
